Other GYN Issues

In addition to your annual exam and making sure you receive the proper preventative screenings, your gynecologist is a trusted resource of information when you have questions or concerns about your reproductive health.

At Charles Street OB/GYN, our focus is on the best health of our patients. This is why we also address other GYN concerns that women have such as:

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Some woman experience moderate to severe symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) as well as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) that can disrupt a woman's daily life. The physicians at Charles Street OB/GYN can help you manage the symptoms of PMS and PMDD including bloating, cramping, fatigue, mood swings, insomnia and depression. Severe PMS or PMDD can be treated in a variety of ways. Your physician may recommend a greater focus on adopting a healthy diet and lifestyle changes that include regular exercise, healthy eating habits, plenty of sleep as well as reducing stress. These tactics have been shown to improve many patients’ symptoms. Birth control pills, anti-depressants, and counseling are also other options that have been proven helpful in many cases of severe PMS and PMDD.

STD Testing and Prevention

Protecting yourself from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is another important factor in maintaining your overall good gynecological health. Charles Street OB/GYN offers our patients safe and confidential STD testing and treatment.

If you are diagnosed with an STD, your gynecologist will explain everything you need to know in order to treat your infection. Most patients respond well to antibiotics often used to help cure gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis. Although there is not a cure for genital warts, antiviral medications can help to reduce the frequency and severity of flare-ups. HIV testing and therapy is also available.

If you are experiencing and unusual symptoms such as pelvic pain, genital blisters, or signs of infection, contact your gynecologist right away.
